It's Too Cold

Started by: mortarmillbill (928)

A professional darts player Gerwyn Price has pulled out of a match in Wigan complaining about the absolutely pathetic conditions.
He was too cold.
His nickname is THE ICEMAN..... Soft melt.
Info from BBC news.

The player was Welshman Gerwyn Price, who was playing in a round of the Players Championship at Robin Park Tennis Arena. He walked out of the tournament trailing 4-2 in his match, citing the venue ' less than amateurish ' and too cold. Rather ironic given his playing monicker is The Iceman !!. It's not the first time he's pulled a stunt at a tournament. There was one a while ago where he actually wore ear defenders on stage saying the crowd noise was too loud and they were getting on his case. Ok, Robin Park isn't the Ally Pally and maybe a bit basic, but it's the same for everyone. Maybe he just doesn't like Wigan. The tournament was won by Warrington Lad Luke Littler, who recorded another 9 dart finish in an earlier round, his 2nd this year. Well done lad.

I don't like Robin Park Arena

I much preferred it when the 'Mill at the Pier' held events, which when that venue closed, they were moved to the Robin Park Arena, which is basically a gym, a school gym, and it is horrible

You never know Tommy, they may relocate back there when the Pier gets up and running again. These events don't seem to cater for spectators though, the Wigan one seems to be a behind closed doors jobby.

WN1 Standisher

it's funny you say that because when the 'Mill at the Pier' closed, I thought it had been converted into apartments, and it was only after several years that I realised it hadn't, and it was still in situ and was being used by some sort of 'performing arts' organisation, but that is a while back now, I used to go to computer fairs and the beer festivals when they were at the 'Mill at the Pier' but they just weren't the same at Robin Park

WN1 Computer Fairs whatever happened to them??? I went regularly when at the Pier and at Robin Park Arena Great for picking up Various Paper, Ink, etc. There was a guy who sold the latest TOP 20 on disc. Untill the organisers stopped him. Then he sold them outside on The car park<g> Thinking about it now It only seems to be a couple of years ago.

admin,

There was a time when assembling PCs was almost a cottage industry, with quite a network of suppliers of parts and requisites.

The mainstream suppliers will now sell you a PC for far less than you would spend on a DIY job.

I still do assemble my own. It is an expensive indulgence, I have to admit. Do not recommend anyone to follow suit.

Also increasingly fewer home PCs are desktops, but tablets and laptops: people do produce homebrew portables, but fewer, and it is more challenging.
